Evo VIII / IX Shortblocks

Stage 1 - Rated to 400+whp
Years of experience and hundreds of successful builds have given us a pretty good idea of what these motors like! If you're looking to make over 400whp without having to worry about your bottom end you've come to the right place! Looking to make more than 650whp? Check out our stage 2 shortblocks!
2.0L Features & Benefits
The 2.0L retains the factory crankshaft and connecting rod configuration that made the 4g63 famous. No need for custom parts here as there are a plethora of options on the shelf at all times! For those that are looking to improve upon the rod ratio for extremely high RPM applications simply choose from one of the 156mm long rod options. We will also include the appropriate pistons (the same ones used in the 2.3l stroker) as the wristpin needs to be moved 6mm closer to the deck to accommodate the longer rods.
Included Components
- ACL Race series bearings (King XP Series Bearings are also used when applicable)
- ARP Main Studs (We check for out of round and line hone if necessary)
- Forged H Beam Connecting Rods
- Forged Pistons

2.1L Features & Benefits
The 2.1L configuration may just be the best of both worlds in regards to rod ratio and displacement. It utilizes the 2.4L block which yields an extra 6mm of deck height allowing for the use of 156mm rods with the 88mm crankshaft! You also get the benefit of the larger 87mm bore of the 2.4L block!
Included Components
- ACL Race series bearings (King XP Series Bearings are also used when applicable)
- ARP Main Studs (We check for out of round and line hone if necessary)
- Manley 156mm H Beam Connecting Rods
- Forged Pistons

2.3L Features & Benefits
The 2.3L configuration utilizes a 100mm crankshaft within the 2.0L block to increase displacement. The wristpin location must be moved up 6mm to accommodate for the additional stroke, but this is the original 4g63 stroker so stock on these pistons is rarely an issue!

2.4L Features & Benefits
The 2.4L configuration is our bread and butter. It utilizes a 100mm crankshaft, larger bore, and 6mm taller deck to increase displacement substantially. For those looking to improve upon the rod ratio simply select one of the 156mm rod options below, however, please keep in mind that this will require custom pistons (87mm bore with wristpin location moved up 6mm) which are made to order and generally takes 4-6 weeks! Core charges are also significantly cheaper than the 2.0L configurations for those that have destroyed their block and/or crankshaft.

Included Services
- Engine blocks visit our hot tank and then proceed to rust removal before receiving a coat of black high temp engine paint for a finished appearance.
- Crankshafts are never cut / turned and receive a micro-polish treatment and balancing specifically for high performance applications.
- The machine work process starts with an overbore utilizing a 4g63 specific torque plate to ensure roundness. The overbore is followed with a three step honing process that is finished with a plateau hone for the absolute best cylinder wall finish and ultimate ring seating.
- The last step in the machining process is resurfacing. We pride ourselves on the surface finish (RA) we achieve as it is of the utmost importance in regards to head gasket sealing.
Options
- Crankshaft: We use standard size OEM crankshafts most frequently as we have not had a crankshaft failure to date. However, we realize that cores are hard to come by and there are weight advantages with some aftermarket crankshafts so we will happily build your shortblock accordingly!
- Oil Pump / Balance Shaft Elimination: Have us install a brand new OEM front case / oil pump assembly and balance shaft elimination kit for an additional charge.
Core Exchange Program
If you want to expedite the process we do have a core exchange program available in which we will use our block and crank to get started. If you would like to take advantage of this program there is a core charge which will be refunded when we receive your original block and crank and verify they are in good, usable condition. You can also simply purchase the block and crank from us for this amount by simply adding the core exchange program to your purchase without the intent of sending in a core replacement.
*Please note that all core exchanges must be able to be reused in order to receive a refund on your core charge.
Shipping
Please note that this item does not qualify for free shipping. Shipping methods and charges will be determined when the service is completed and can range from $200-$300.Stage 2 - Rated to 650+whp
